“Todo el mal que puede desplegarse en el mundo se esconde en un nido de traidores.”
Aún tengo fresco esa imagen del entusiasmo que le causaba hablar del Equipo Nacional de Baloncesto de Puerto Rico, parecía un niño que acababa de descubrir los efectos que causaba el tocarse, con toda la “buena intención”. ¡Era contagioso escuchar todas las cosas que se podían hacer, y mejor aún, eran posibles! ¡No se hablaba de planes utópicos, ni de la paz mundial, se hablaba de realidades concretas, viables y mucha gente con deseos de trabajar, como ya les dije, era contagioso!
Cuando tuvo su primer turno al bate, sintió en carne propia lo que era la traición, llegar con un plan y que todo se derrumbe por intereses personales de algunos no fue la mejor experiencia; Sabemos que creo un poco de frustración, y hasta se escucharon gritos de esto no vale la pena. Pero parece que pudo más el interés que la frustración, y ahí te volvimos a ver con ese brillo en los ojos, pero esta vez había un plan.
Las reglas del juego cambiaron, lo que antes era una fraternidad de cinco, se había convertido en una gran contienda “democrática” de muchos, ahora todo era un asunto de hacer política y ofrecer, ofrecer y ofrecer para así ganar la simpatía de la gran mayoría y poder llegar, bueno por lo menos así veía yo el plan. Y llegó el gran día, y no fue sorpresa el resultado, ganó el que trabajo para eso, gano el que mejor ejecuto su plan, Y llegó la celebración, fueron muchos los que acudieron a la “victoria”, de algunos sabíamos, de otros no, ¿sorpresa? Si hay algo que he aprendido a través de todos estos años, es que en la federación existen muchos de estos tipos “sorpresivos”, tiene otros nombres, pero aquí esto no se trata de nombres, se trata del plan.
¡Habemus Presidente! Por primera vez en muchos años veíamos un poco de luz al final del túnel, el Presidente en sus diferentes declaraciones a la prensa (y a nosotros también), hablaba de un cambio, de que pronto venían con un plan para cambiar la estructura, la forma de ejecutar, y hasta la forma de tomar las decisiones… todo era parte del plan.
Durante los últimos 15 años el baloncesto en Puerto Rico había estado en una decadencia constante, a pesar de uno que otro triunfo a nivel regional, ya no éramos aquel equipo que estaba en los Top 10 del mundo, y a nivel de Las Américas, estábamos cediendo el paso a equipos como México y Venezuela, había una crisis, nosotros se lo adjudicamos al liderato federativo, quienes muchas veces anteponen sus intereses personales sobre el bienestar del baloncesto local, malas decisiones, no había un plan para la parte técnica, el equipo técnico no era el mejor, y el intento de estos para mejorar se basaba en cría y cojones, los resultados están ahí, no tenemos que repetirlos.
Ahora vendría el verdadero cambio, Presidente nuevo…con un plan, Coaches relativamente nuevos, mejor comunicación, una federación más abierta, transparente y sobre todo receptiva a las opiniones exteriores, por lo menos así “nos dijeron”.
Bueno, con todo esto escrito, vamos a los hechos.
La Federación hizo mucho ruido en un principio con muchas reuniones, nombrando el personal de confianza, auditando las finanzas, sacando gente (el más sonado Georgie Rosario), concediendo entrevistas, en fin, bien transparente, ah y casi se me olvida…preparando el Plan. El Presidente tenía otro reto, limpiar la casa, aunque se sacaron personas de posiciones claves, sabíamos que habían personas todavía ahí adentro que eran amenazas reales para el Presidente, o para su Plan, y como todo un líder tenía que buscar la forma de sacar todo eso más lo que no servía, y todo eso había que hacerlo de la forma más políticamente correcta, no se podían dejar rastros ni mucho menos ensuciar las manos. Había que buscar lo que se conoce como un “hitman”, el Presidente no pasó mucho trabajo para encontrar uno.
Cuando Ramos fue elegido por “la gran mayoría” para presidir la Federación, no habían pasado ni dos meses que se había nombrado un nuevo cuerpo técnico, eso le caía perfecto al Presidente si estos fracasan, “yo no lo puse ahí”, y si triunfaba, “a esto fue lo que venimos”. El elegido era Eddie Casiano, exjugador que no necesita carta de presentación. Eddie aparte de sus logros como jugador, era bien conocido por ser una persona controversial, prepotente, orgullosa, y que había tenido relativo éxito detrás de la línea de juego, muchos le destacan su estilo monárquico al llevar su “reino”. Aquel que no gozara de su simpatía, pues “dedo abajo”.
La combinación del Presi y del Coach no la veíamos como la combinación perfecta, la veíamos más bien como un matrimonio arreglado, donde cada una de las partes tenía ya su propio Plan. Había que esperar cual triunfaba, o cual ejecutaba mejor su Plan. Pero lo que nadie anticipa era que esa cosa del Plan, era la que iba a levantar la discordia entre ellos, la jerarquía y nosotros, el pueblo.
Cuando nos dejaron saber de donde había el salido el dichoso Plan, comenzamos a indagar sobre el mismo, sabíamos quien lo había hecho, ¿pues que nos quedaba? Preguntar por el mismo, sabíamos además a manos de quien fue a parar el mismo, y quien lo iba a presentar, pero lo que no sabíamos era que todo eso del Plan era una simple metáfora, digo, por lo menos así lo vimos. Y como no había nada escrito, quiere decir que de ese momento en adelante todo era especulativo.
Con el Presi habiendo encontrado su “hitman”, con las controversias sobre la mesa, ahora era el momento de ejecutar el Plan, o los Planes, porque al igual que el Presi, el Coach también tenía el suyo, el Coach ya había visto que eso de ser Presidente no era tan complicado na’, y a su vez debe haber visto que el Presi era “medio vulnerable”, por lo menos eso aparentaba, lo que no sabía era que todo eso era parte del Plan del Presi, digo, alguien ya había mordido el anzuelo, recuerden esto es especulativo, como no hay nada escrito. Lo primero que hizo el Presi fue poner un letrero grande frente a las oficinas de la Federación que decía “Cuidado Coach Bravo”, ya la advertencia estaba hecha, entre y métase bajo su propio riesgo, ¿se acuerdan cuando les dije que no eran el matrimonio perfecto? Comenzaron las decisiones controversiales, se le salió lo de cojonu al Coach, y el Presi solo respondía, “eso es decisión del Coach y eso yo lo respeto”.
Las decisiones administrativas le tocan al Presi, pero si usted toma unas decisiones dentro de un ambiente ya saturado de controversia, todo se ve…menos claro, pues te crea la duda, si en realidad es el Presi o está influenciado por el Coach. Pero como dije hace mucho tiempo, no existen las coincidencias, todo está escrito, llegó la hora de analizar todo lo que se dice, y todo lo que se ve. De algo estamos seguro, el Plan ya está corriendo, el “Show of Force” está por verse, no ahora, ni en noviembre, pero por ahí viene. Me llamo mucho a la atención la entrevista que ofreció el Jefe en días recientes donde este, hace alusión a que él y el Presi de alguna forma iban a limar asperezas con los jugadores impactados en los últimos acontecimientos, y el Presi, como en una obra bien ensayada, hace su entrada en el cue perfecto para secundar las palabras del jefe y destacar aquello de “las decisiones que hay que respetar” Se nota un poco de aquello de “la separación de poderes”, ¿quien se atreve a decir ahora que no hay un Plan?. Se los dije, todo es una metáfora.
El Coach tiene su propio Plan, quizás no vaya acorde al del Presi, que conste no estoy jugando a ser el abogado del diablo, y no tengo porque defender ni a uno ni al otro, nuestro único interés es el futuro del baloncesto, pero lo que comienza bien no necesariamente tiene que terminar bien. Se que se ha hecho alusión a aquello del Payaso y el Burro, lo que aún no sabemos quién es quién, tampoco sabemos cómo va a terminar esto, si nos dejamos llevar por lo que podemos ver, hasta ahora el Presi está perdiendo credibilidad y popularidad, y el Coach está ejecutando su Plan a la perfección, por lo menos eso es lo que se ve….hasta que pienso en aquello que escribí en un principio… “Todo el mal que puede desplegarse en el mundo se esconde en un nido de traidores.”
¡Que grande eres Petrarca! Mientras el Coach sigue galopando con cierto aire de triunfo, el Presi está sentado casi escondido entre sus comités y esos “tipos sorpresivos”, observando y con una sonrisa maquiavélica… esperando el próximo cue para entrar en escena en el momento perfecto…

Buen articulo escrito por Ricky Matruko. Acabo de ver la conferencia de prensa de la seleccion nacional y me gusta los doce elegidos. Veo un equipo joven, atletico y rapido. Buena estatura, pecan en falta de experiencia a nivel de selecciones pues hay muchos debutantes (Andujar, Ortiz, Clemente, Rivas, Davis, Rodriguez y Gaston), hace tiempo que no veia tantos debutantes en una seleccion. Otro problema, falta de fogueos, no me hace sentido foguearnos el antes del torneo con precisamente nuestro primer rival Mexico. Esto se pudo haber planificado mejor, haber tenido un fogueo con RD o inclusive USVI, paises bien cercanos o viajar a Panama y foguearnos con los canaleros esta semana dias antes de llegar al torneo. Solo resta decir que se cumplio con la renovacion (aunque se metio la pata con Melsahn Basabe, que no va a participar por un detalle en los papeles, pero que estuvo en todas las practicas jodiendose para quedarse fuera, cuando todo parecia indicar que estaba adentro).
Ahora, a esperar que luzcan bien en el torneo.
